Moving in concert
Mette IngvartsenDenmark / Belgium
What impact does technology have on our brain ? How can we understand technology as something that is always active in our body, even when all technical tools in the environment are switched off ? Inspired by how bodies are influenced by a digitalized world, Ingvartsen examines our interaction with technological objects and organic material with nine dancers.
After 21 Pornographies and to come (extended) – both successful at NEXT 2017- Mette Ingvartsen again shows excellent work at the festival. Moving in Concert pictures a universe where people, technology and natural materials meet each other in movement. Through light, shadow and reflection the dancers open a magic landscape which the spectator can enter. Full of mind-blowing visual impressions, intense colour sensations and sculptures of light and shadow.
The Danish choreographer and dancer Mette Ingvartsen studied at the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten and P.A.R.T.S. before obtaining a doctorate in choreography in Sweden. In her work- consisting of dance, performance and live installations- she pays attention to intimate, naked but also to non-human performers. Her latest work 21 Pornographies, which is part of a trilogy about sexuality was selected for Het TheaterFestival 2018.
